LCGT project

This is the LCGT (Large-scale Cryogenic Gravitational wave Telescope) project home page. LCGT aimes the first detection of gravitational waves which were predicted from the Einstein's general theory of relativity. LCGT, of course, could be one of GW detectors network including LIGO, VIRGO, GEO600 and ACIGA. LCGT is planned to be constructed in the Kamioka mine, which has already involved many physics facilities, such as Super-Kamiokande, Kamland, CLIO, XMASS and a superconductive gravimeter.

Recently, the underground became the "hot" place for the cosmophysics because the underdround environment can be the best natural noise guard for the direct detection of permiable exsistences, such as nutrinos, gravitational waves and dark matter.

LCGT is designed to have 3×10^-24 [1/rHz] strain sensitivity around 100Hz as shown the following figure.
